The agreement has been renewed 4 times, the last time in 2018, for 5 years each. The second enlargement contained an amendment to include research in the field of security and space on the list of areas of cooperation activities. The United States and India have a rich history of cooperation in scientific research and education. As early as the 1950s, cooperation in the field of agricultural research developed when U.S. Public Law 480 (PL480, also known as Food for Peace) supported the Green Revolution in India.8 Over the years, research funding mechanisms and cooperation developed and constituted a growing number of United States.
